Applications are now open to join the Scottish Fencing Pathways Programme 2026/27!
What is the Scottish Fencing Pathways Squad?
The Pathways Programme is for those of cadet age (under 17) who want to take get experience and understand the pathways that exist in the sport. The structure that will be in place for the programme for this season, will cover the following areas: Building relationships, goal setting, competitive development, competition prep, refereeing, coaching. Having fun will be at the heart of the delivery as we first and foremost want the young people to feel included and enjoy coming to the programme. There will also be mini team and individual competitions on some days as part of the programme, guest speakers and knowledge experts.
Who is the Scottish Fencing Pathways Squad for?
Our excellent pathways coaches will be on hand each session to support the young person at whatever stage they are in their fencing journey. This is designed to be an offering to compliment and support what they do at the club. The focus if on ensuring an environment for young people to thrive and enjoy the experience.
The are different pathways in our sport, and we hope by giving the young people as part of the Pathways Programme for this year insight and experience into what these are, will allow them to see the various different ways you can participate in the sport.

Scottish Fencing Pathways Programme Staff
Pathways Coach (Primary Weapon - Epee) – Rob Blackburne
Pathways Coach (Primary Weapon - Foil) – Stan Stoodley
Pathways Coach (Primary Weapon - Sabre) – Naomi Farmer
Welfare Officer - these will be a welfare officer present at each of the sessions, covered by SF staff!
Cost
£200 for the 2026/27 Pathways Programme. Two pathways t-shirt kit is included in the cost as well this year.
The payment can be made in whole or in installments if easier just contact the team to discuss further.

Payment Methods:
a) In full on sign up
b) Monthly payment plan agreed with SF.
There is also an option to come along and drop in to the sessions that work for you. There would be a cost of £50 per session to drop.
