2018 Youth 5 Nations, Cardiff

Scottish Fencing is hoping to send a squad of fencers to 2018 Youth 5 nations being held at the Cardiff Met University.

The dates are 1 and 2 September with individual championships on the Saturday and Team matches the next day.

Following the recent Cadet and Junior Commonwealth Championships we recognise that the same squad of fencers might not be able to afford another trip away so are considering opening this event to less experienced fencers who would welcome the opportunity to represent Scotland.

2018 CFC selection update

The documents below are the Men's and Women's Foil and Men's Sabre data which will be put to the selectors for the Commonwealth Championships in Canberra in November.  British Fencing has not published its July ranking lists so these are based on 11 months of our selection period.  We are not aware of any competitions in June which will have a material impact on the selection decisions.  An updated Women's Sabre is now posted below.

Scottish Fencing Academy - Positive Behaviour Management in Sport

Venue
West Fife Fencing Club, Wellwood, Dunfermline, KY12 0NR

Coaching children and young people can be a very rewarding experience. However there will be times when the behaviours of some young participants will leave you feeling confused, frustrated and deskilled!

This workshop will help you to work out why unwanted behaviours occur, how to respond to the challenges as they crop up and how to prevent these from happening again and again. Identifying what creates a positive coaching environment and taking actions that will encourage the types of behaviour you want is the key to successful behaviour management.
